Carolyn Hargett

Carolyn Thomas Hargett, 76, died Wednesday October 20. Born in Charlotte, resided in Indian Trail, NC, Carolyn predeceased by her husband, Jesse Hargett, of 45 years, her mother Ruby McLean Thomas and Floyd Robinson Thomas. She is survived by her siblings, Bill Thomas of Fairview, NC and Suzanne Thomas Matonti (Phil Matonti) of Seattle WA, nephew Ben Thomas of Morrisville, NC, niece Jennifer Thomas Hrischenko (George Hrischenko) of Charlotte, NC, great-nieces Leigh, Kelly and Alison and her little puppy Jazzy. Carolyn grew up in the Fairview area, attended UNCG and taught History at Parkwood High School.  She volunteered for Head Start helping children learn to read. She loved gardening, reading, watching Dancing with the Stars and was most happy with a puppy on her lap. Living with Friedreich’s Ataxia most of her life, she never complained, always smiled, lived a life full of positivity and determination.

A dual memorial service to celebrate Carolyn and Jesse with military honors will be held at 3pm Sunday November 14, Benton’s Crossroads Baptist Church, 109 Lawyers Rd W. Indian Trail, NC 28079.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Union County Hospice or Benton’s Cross Roads Baptist Church.
