Carolyn Harris, 78 years of age, of Harrisburg, NC, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Novant Health in Huntersville.
Carolyn was born July 1, 1937 in China Grove to Ray Harris and Zelia Safrit. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Jim Smith of Harrisburg, NC.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Jimmy Bartley. Burial will follow at Harrisburg Baptist Church Cemetery at 6525 Morehead Rd, Harrisburg, NC.
Survivors include her son, James Smith and partner, Ron Hewitt of Mooresville, NC; her daughter, Nancy Wampler and husband, Roger Wampler of Concord, NC; her grandchildren, Hunter Morgan, Morgan White, Roger Lee Wampler, III and Monica Wampler; and a great grandchild, Riley Hatfield; her sisters, Mary Summerford and husband, Keith and Ann Herring and husband, Luke.
Carolyn was a retiree of Duke Energy of 23 years. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother who enjoyed grooming the flowers in her yard at her long time residence in Harrisburg, NC.
