Carolyn Smith

Carolyn Simpson Smith, 84, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System Pineville.

Carolyn was born October 31, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Charles Simpson and the late Elise Blalock Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 1:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Adam Hatley. The burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle. At other times the family will be gathering at her home.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Marshall Ray Smith of the home; daughters, Linda Schadt and husband John of Albemarle, Joyce Almond and husband Kyle of New London, Lisa Whitley and husband Kelly of New London; brother, Charles Douglas Simpson of Virginia; six grandchildren, Stephen Parker, Kim, Shane, and Derick Almond, Preston and Chase Whitley; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a sweet and charming Christian woman, who lived her life by her Christian values. Carolyn was devoted to her family and always let them know how much she loved them.
