Carrie Lee Morton Gilbert, 81 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Woodhaven Court in Albemarle.
Carrie Lee was born September 23, 1934 in Stanly County to the late George Ellis Morton and the late Rosa Morton.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, who died in 2014, Lloyd Gilbert; seven brothers and one sisters, Arthur Morton, Ray Morton, Bill Morton, Bruce Morton, Reece Morton, Vance Morton, Rachel Little, Warren Morton; and special nephew, Jimmy Morton.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Oakboro United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be on Sunday at 3:00 pm at Oakboro United Methodist Church and will be officiated by Rev. Gene Moore. Burial will follow at Smith's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 138, Oakboro.
The family will be meeting at Carrie Lee's residence.
She is survived by one brother, Hobert Morton of Rockwell; special caregiver and niece, Shirley Morton of Oakboro; special great nephews, Jeff Morton and Rodney Morton, and many nieces and nephews that she cared deeply for.
A retired hair stylist, Carrie Lee was a talented seamstress and musician.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to her loving caregivers Cindy Wilson, Jackie Morgan, Bobbie Morgan, Mary Chaney, and Carol Clark.
