Carrol Whitley

Carrol Sue Hudson Whitley, 75 of 20311 Efird Road, Albemarle, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2011 at CMC Union in Monroe. The family will receive friends at the home of Mark and Nancy Whitley, 5916 New Hope Church Road, Marshville, NC and immediately following the burial in the church fellowship hall. A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Whitley’s life will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Oakboro, on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at 4 pm. Dr. Phillip Hunter will officiate the service and burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Oakboro. Born July 17, 1935 in Stanly County to the late George Lex Hudson and the late Anna Gladys Talbert Hudson, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eldridge Whitley in 1994 and her brother, James Richard Hudson. She is survived by her son Mark S. Whitley and his wife Nancy S. Whitley of Marshville; a beloved granddaughter, Mary Beth Lipscomb and her husband, Charles T. Lipscomb of Indian Trail; and a beloved grandson, Christopher Mark Whitley of Marshville; one brother, Everett L. Hudson and his wife Rachel of Albemarle; mother in law, Nola Belle Whitley of Albemarle and sister in law Annette Hatley and her husband Edward of Albemarle. A graduate of Albemarle High School, she worked for number of years with Service Distributors in Albemarle and joined her late husband in the family farming and grain service business. She then worked with the Stanly County Board of Elections and completed her career there at the end of May 2011. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Oakboro for over 40 years. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro, NC 28129.
