Catherine Ruth Rushing

Catherine Ruth Rushing, 100, of Raleigh, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at Falls River Village in Raleigh.

Catherine was born June 3, 1924 in North Carolina to the late Ezra Bivens Godfrey and the late Dovie Alice Godfrey.

She was also preceded in death by husband, Eugene Rushing, and 11 brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 1pm at Charlotte Memorial Gardens in Charlotte officiated by Reverend Joey Query.

Catherine was a loving wife, and a wonderful daughter, sister, mother,and grandmother. She was a member of Newell Order of the Eastern Star, formerly a charter member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Hickory Grove American Legion Auxiliary. Currently she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Monroe. Formerly, Catherine resided at Brookdale Senior Living in Concord, NC. Catherine was a devoted member of many organizations and causes some of which included camping originations, social groups, and nursing.

Survivors include daughter, Linda (Gene) Medlin of Charlotte, NC, daughter, Sue (Michael) Litaker of Mount Gilead, NC, daughter, Kathy (William "Mac") McKeown of Raleigh, NC; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
