Catherine Smith
June 4, 1951 — June 6, 2017
Catherine Carroll Smith, of Charlotte, NC, died June 6, 2017, at age 66. Catherine was the daughter of Phillip Carroll, Jr. and the late Bernice Kelly Carroll. Catherine grew up in Wilmington, DE, and was a 1973 Queens College graduate.
Catherine’s life was defined most by her relationships: wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her compassion, organization, hard work, sweetness, and love improved the lives of each person who crossed her path. Catherine’s husband of 41 years, Maurice (Moe) Smith; daughter, Sarah Still; son-in-law, Aaron; father, Phil; brother, Flip; nephew, Patrick; and many friends/fans loved Catherine and miss her greatly.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Providence United Methodist Church (2810 Providence Road, Charlotte NC 28211) on Monday, June 12th, at 2:30 p.m. A joyful reception will be held immediately following the service in the church atrium. Interment will be private.
Catherine lost a courageous ten year battle against Alzheimer’s. In lieu of flowers, she would want us to continue the fight, particularly through the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation (https://www.alzinfo.org/). Her family would like to express its sincere appreciation for the loving care provided by the staff of Elmcroft of Little Avenue and Hospice of Charlotte.
