Cecil Austin

Cecil Ray Austin, age 83 of 8129 S. Hwy 205, Oakboro, NC 28129, passed away on July 14, 2011 at his home. The family will receive friends 6 PM until 8 PM, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home- Albemarle. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, July 17, 2011, with a 30 minute state, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Rex Burleson and Rev. Keith Walters will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. Born in Stanly County on March 17, 1928 he was the son of the late Pearl Vernon and the late Colen Stella Furr Austin. Mr. Austin was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Steven Austin who died in 1973; a grandson, Christopher Scott Wiley; and one brother, Sheldon Austin. Mr. Cecil Ray Austin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine “Dean” Austin of the home; a son, Allen Ray Austin and wife Debra of Midland; a daughter Sandra Austin Burleson and husband Rex of Albemarle; one sister, Betty A. Whitley of Oakboro; four grandchildren, Shane Burleson, Christina Eudy, Landon Ray Austin, Kara Brittany Austin and six great grandchildren.
