Cecil "Cooter" Eugene Smith

Cecil Eugene "Cooter" Smith, 87, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.

Cecil was born August 22, 1937, in North Carolina to the late Dewey Smith and the late Nellie Dick Smith. 

He was also preceded in death by wife, Joyce Gail Crisco Smith; stillborn son, Dexter Eugene Smith; and daughter, Debbie Gail Smith.

The graveside service will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 10:00am at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakboro officiated by Rev. Don Burleyson. Burial will immediately follow at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro.

Survivors include son, Jeff Smith of Albemarle, NC; daughters, Martha Smith and Renea Seabolt of Albemarle, NC; and sisters, Geneva Foreman of Oakboro, NC and Wilma Freeman of China Grove, NC.

Cecil was an excellent automotive body man. In his earlier years, Cecil enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an animal lover and enjoyed feeding wildlife, especially his birds.
