Charlene Tucker

Charlene Gill Tucker, age 65 of 1006 Elaine Drive, Albemarle, NC 28001, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and friends ?on Monday, May 16,2011. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 5pm until 7pm. The service will follow in the Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel at 7pm. Rev. Jerry Crisco and Rev. Joe Smith will officiate the service. Mrs. Tucker was born in Plymouth, PA on April 13, 1946 to the late Melvin Woodrow Gill and Elizabeth Jane Lewis. Mrs. Tucker is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tony Ray Tucker of home; daughters, Jennifer Tucker Vinton of Charlotte, Heather Charlene Tucker of Somerset, MA; brother, Melvin Arlington Lewis Gill of E. China MI; Sister, Sandra Lewis Gill of Rock Hill, SC; grandchild, Ryan Gregory Vinton. Attending the University of Michigan and later Stanly Community College, Mrs. Tucker worked at NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center in MD. She was a teacher in Calvert County, MD, and was later self employed as a computer engineer. An avid participant in the Renaissance Festival in Charlotte for many years, she was a member of the Moose Club, the Quilt Club, and the Genealogy Club. She was a Girl Scout leader, a public school volunteer, and was responsible for the rescue of many cats. A member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Charlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was very religious and loved God.
