Charles Lester “Pete†Allen, Jr., 86, of 1318 Washington Lane Kannapolis passed away at his home on Monday, January 30, 2011. Born on May 30, 1924 in Cabarrus County to the late Charles Lester Allen, Sr. and Lillie Mae Wilkinson Edgison. Mr. Allen served 3 years in the US Army serving in Normandy in General Patton’s 3rd Army, he received the EAMET Medal with 4 bronze service stars, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal and Good Conduct Medal.. He was owner and operator of Allen's Tin Shop in Concord. He had previously worked at The VA Medical Center in Salisbury. The family meeting place will be at the home. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 from 12:30 until 1:30 PM. A Graveside service will follow at 2 PM at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, with Rev. Wade Easom officiating. Military rites will be performed at graveside by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. Survived by: wife, Joyce Mason Allen of the home; son, Gary Allen of Kannapolis; half-brother, William "Bill" Whitley of Concord.
