Charles Ray Beaver, 90 years of age, of Concord, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Brian Center in Concord.
Charles was born January 2, 1926 in Concord, NC to the late James Augustus Beaver and the late Pauline Beaver Cress. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Dorothy McIntyre Beaver in 2011; son Charles Martin Beaver; and step-brother Henry Cress, Jr.
Survivors include daughter, Paula Kee and husband Eddie of Concord, NC; son, Michael Beaver of the home (Teresa Riley) of Supply, NC; daughter, Sheree Martin and husband Bill of Deltona, FL; daughter, Tinker Beaver of Concord, NC; daughter-in-law, Ruby Pat Beaver of China Grove, NC; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sister Juanita Shaffer.
Charles proudly served in the United States Navy Armed Guard during WWII. He was an active member of the VFW Post 6480, the American Legion Post 51, and the local DAV. Charles retired from Hennis Freight Lines in 1984, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 71. He loved his family, his country, camping, fishing, the beach, singing and dancing, and traveling the world with the love of his life, Dorothy. He was loved and respected by all those who knew him, and brought joy to everyone.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. A memorial service with military honors will follow at 4:00 pm officiated by Rev. Marvin Goodnight of Maranatha Worship Center.
