Charles Blanton

Charles Drury Blanton, Sr., 92 years of age, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Blanton was born June 24, 1925 in Shelby, North Carolina to the late Everette and Mattie Hamrick Blanton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, James E. Blanton, Sr. Charles served in the United States Navy during World War II, where he was in the Amphibious Force, becoming the first wave into Normandy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 am in Hartsell Funeral Home's Chapel, officiated by Rev. Michael Waters and Rev. Bruce Sheeks. Entombment will follow in the West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1350 S. Main St., China Grove.

Survivors include: wife, Carolyn Blanton of Mount Pleasant; sons, Charles (Sue) Blanton, Jr. of Concord, Michael (Patty) Blanton of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Amy Queen, Randy Blanton, James Blanton, Ashley Altman; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Cody, Caitlyn, Kaylea, Jordan, and Jace.
