Charles Brooks

Charles Eugene "Gene" Brooks, 77 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home. Brooks was born February 23, 1936 in Stanly County to the late Charlie Macon Brooks and the late Virginia Lee Brooks. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Dale Brooks. He was a veteran of the Korean War. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The graveside service will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Stanfield, officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry and Rev. Melvyn Curlee. Military rites will be presented by the Stanly County DAV Chapter 12 and Sons of Confederate Veterans. Survivors include his son, Ken Brooks and his fiancée Tami Motley of Concord; his sisters, Mavis Cochran of Concord, Helen Crowell of Indian Trail, Betty Morgan of Monroe, and Kay Haigler of Matthews.
