Charles Davis

Charles Allen Davis, 82 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center North East. Allen was born September 16, 1930 in Stanly County to the late Mae Allen Davis and the late Bertha Plyler Davis. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Reggie Davis; sister, Lena Carpenter; and brother, James Davis. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Barbee's Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Phillip Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakboro Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Hatley Davis of the home; daughter, Cynthia Yow and husband Frenchie of Stanfield; son, Scott Davis of Oakboro; and granddaughter, Winter Davis and fiancé Daniel Lambert of Oakboro. Allen proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War from 1951 - 1953. He retired from Charlotte Pipe and Foundry after 42 years of service. Allen was a member of Barbee's Grove Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and sang in the choir. He also loved to work in his yard and garden.
