Charles "Paw" Junior Hatley, 72 years of age, of Concord, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Charles was born December 22, 1940 in Stanly County, NC to the late Charles Craven Hatley and the late Ethel Mae Almond Hatley . He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Myrtle Rebecca Hatley; brother, Coy Hatley; and sister, Callie Barrier. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday at 4:00 pm at the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Tom Fleming officiating. The burial will follow at Mission Baptist Church Cemetery, 12444 Mission Church Road, Locust. At other times, the family will be meeting at his son, Wayne's home, 481 Oriole Lane in Concord. He is survived by his son, Wayne Hatley and wife Tamera of Concord; daughter, Tammy Stancil of Locust; grandchildren, Mitchell Hatley, Kellie Shope, and Janie Hatley; sisters, Georgia Whitley and Lois Burris, both of Mt. Pleasant. Charles loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother. He was owner and operator of Hatley's Garage for 18 years. Charles loved NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. He enjoyed gardening and Mt. Pleasant football and baseball. Charles loved going to What-A-Burger #13 and taking spontaneous joyrides. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Hatley family.
