Charles Henry Pope, 80, of Flowes Store Road, Concord, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Mr. Pope was born January 23, 1932 to the late James Henry Pope and Dorothy Austin Pope. He served in the U. S. Army and retired from TCT Transportation after 20 years. He then owned Popes Sav-a-Sum at the end of Flowes Store Road and Hwy. 601. Employed with Rufus Kiser and Sons, then employed with Terminal Trucking. Charles loved to go to the outerbanks and fish. He was a member of Oakridge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord officiated by Rev. Jimmy Hall. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. At other times, the family will meet at his home. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jolene Pope, of the home; his son, Wayne Pope and his wife, Linda, of Concord; his sister, Barbara Loving; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
