Charles Renfro, Sr

Charlie William Renfro Sr., 94 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at his daughters home in Locust.

Charlie was born December 31, 1922 in McDowell County, North Carolina to the late Samuel Marvin Renfro and Ruey Lavada West Renfro. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Tucker Renfro; and granddaughter Angie Renfro.

A graveside service will be on Friday September 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens,1504 W. Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte with grandson, Minister David Cochran II officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor's Team

Survivors include his wife, Doris Furr Renfro of Stanfield; daughters, Debbie Cochran and husband David, Sr of Locust and Helen Summers of Albemarle; sons, Charlie Renfro, Jr., and Ronnie Renfro of Locust; stepdaughters, Wanda Dahl of Stanfield, and Gwen and Bobby Long; stepson Dana Barbee and wife Debbie of Oakboro; sister-Jessie King of VA; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; and15 step great grandchildren.

Charlie retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Aviation Ordnanceman, serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was very active and his hobbies were hunting, gardening and square dancing where he met his second wife enjoying eight years with her.
