Charles Asa Ridenhour June 26, 1927 - July 20, 2016
Charles Asa Ridenhour, an only son of the late Harry H. Ridenhour and the late Gladys Blackwelder Ridenhour, along with two sisters, Mrs. George (Mildred) Beaver and Mrs. Harold (Alice) Troutman, all of Concord. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mable Tucker Ridenhour.
They leave one son, Gary M Ridenhour and wife, Kim; three grandsons, David and wife, Audrey, Johnathan and Dustin; one granddaughter, Megan; great granddaughter, Ava Lynn; great grandson, Tate Michael.
Charles was born and raised in Cabarrus County and was a life long member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, where he served numerous years on the church council. He also served, in his early years, as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and later as Superintendent of Sunday School.
In 1945 he joined the United States Navy, receiving training at Bainbridge Maryland. Most of his sea duty was around the Samar Islands in the Phillipines, Suble Bay and Manila. He was discharged at Little Creek Virginia in 1948. Upon returning home, he held various jobs at Cannon Mills, The Missle Plant in Charlotte, Bost Wholesale Co. and then retired from Fieldcrest Cannon in Kannapolis.
The family will receive from Friday, July 22 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 23 at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church beginning at 11:00 am, he will lie in state for 45 minutes. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at the church cemetery.
