Charles Ray Stancil, 79 years of age, of Concord, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at his home in Concord.
Charles was born June 8, 1935 in North Carolina to the late Grover Young Stancil and the late Annie Lee Stancil.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers Bill and Elmer Stancil, and sister, Janie Moose.
The family will receive friends from 11am - 1pm, Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel and will be officiated by Pastor Phil Bennett. Burial will be at the West Concord Cemetery at 331 Union Cemetery Rd SW, Concord.
Survivors include wife, Jennifer Baguinat Stancil of Concord; son, Charles Stancil, Jr.; son, Ronnie Stancil; daughter, Cathy Stancil; step-daughter, Dazel-Dave Cularte; four grandchildren; his two close friends, Charles Williford and Thomas Needham; and his Filipino family.
Charles served his country in active combat in the US Army during the Vietnam War and the Korean War. His decorations include the Vietnam and Korean Service Medals, and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 523; The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 909; and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 27. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Concord.
