Charles Gordon Tabor, M.D., 91 years of age, of Winston Salem, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Brookridge Retirement Home in Winston-Salem.
Dr. Tabor was born August 31, 1925 in High Point to the late Charles Condra and Bernice Molly Tabor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Charnice Tabor. Charles proudly served his country in the US Navy for three years, then served as a medical missionary with his wife in South Korea for over 20 years. After returning to the states, Charles was employed as a physician at the Veterans Administration Out Patient Clinic in Winston Salem for over 20 years. Charles was an orchestra member of the National VA Medical Music Group and has served on many national and state committees and organizations, such as the Baptist Medical Dental Fellowship, as well as several medical mission trips.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm, Friday, February 24, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home - Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel.
Charles is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ellen Dennis Tabor; sons, Charles David Tabor and wife Christina Nelson and Dennis Gordon and wife Carol Dotson Tabor; grandchildren, Jennifer, Kara, David, Jr., Laura, and Beth; and great-grandson, Nicholas.
