Charles Frederick Vogt, 67, of Midland, NC passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.
Fred was born March 12, 1953 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Charles Vogt and Audrey Kimmy Vogt.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Carol Ann Guriel Vogt of Midland, NC; children, Matthew (Lauren) of Fairview, PA and Abigail (David) Beiswenger of Cary, NC. He is also survived by parents, Charles and Audrey Vogt of Erie, PA; sisters, Cathy (John) Sauers and Vickie (Jeff) Beatty, Erie, PA; grandson, Levi Frederick Beiswenger; and his faithful felines, Saber and Solstice.
Fred was predeceased by mother-in-law, Emma Sawtelle, of Erie, PA earlier this week.
A proud Erie Insurance Group employee, he worked nearly 30 years in the auto insurance industry as an automobile re-inspector and appraiser, first working in the Erie office and then transferring to NC. His interest in cars and trucks began early in life, helping his father work on semis. He had a passion for restoring cars, particularly "muscle cars". An NASCAR enthusiast, he logistically understood the mechanics and dynamics of racing. Fred also enjoyed golfing; participating on a league for several years. He was a lifetime member of St. Francis Ushers Club.
A funeral service will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania.
