Charles Young, Sr

Charles Manning Young, Sr., 85 years of age, of Indian Trail and formerly of Stanfield, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at his daughter's home in Indian Trail.

Charles was born September 23, 1929 in Charlotte to the late Truman Gillian Young and the late Mary Sue Whitesides Young. He was also preceded in death by wife of 60 years, Mary Virginia Gatlin Young in 2012; daughter, Waynita Butler, and son, Michael Eugene Young.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Love's Grove United Methodist Church, 4360 Polk Ford Road, Stanfield. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Jim White will follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the grave.

He is survived by son, Charles Manning Young, Jr., and wife, Shirley of Gastonia; daughter, Mary Bingham of Indian Trail; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Retired from the US Air Force, he was a 25 year member of Love's Grove United Methodist Church and proudly served as treasurer.
