Charles "Chub" Dorton

Charles S. Dorton,Jr. "Chub" 96, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at The Greens of Cabarrus following an extended illness.

He was born August 29,1926 in Cabarrus County, to the late Charles Simeon Dorton, Sr. and the late Lula Mae Canupp Dorton.

Chub served in the US Army during World War II, He was awarded a Victory medal having served during the Asiatic- Pacific campaign. Chub was also well known in the city of Concord as a US Postman. He was known for his contagious smile and wit.

Chub was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years Naomi Ruth Linker Dorton, on March 25, 2021, and his son Charles S. Dorton III,

Survivors include 2 sons, Steven Alvice Dorton and wife Sandy of Concord, NC, son, Phillip Kevin Dorton and wife Jamie of Kernersville, NC, three grandchildren Jennifer, Grant and Lyndsey, and two great- grandchildren Sawyer and Adrien.

A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Roberta United Methodist Church Cemetery of which Chub was a faithful member, the Reverend Perry Hines officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081
