Charlie Chester

Charlie Millard Chester, 92, of Concord, passed away on July 6, 2022, at home in Concord, NC.

He was born on May 18, 1930 to Henry and Ellie Chester in Clarksville, TN. Millard worked as a Quality Control Engineer for IBM for many years in which he thoroughly enjoyed.  He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper and apart of the 101st Airborne where he was a sergeant. In his spare time, he would be found building furniture or enjoying the outdoors while fishing.  Millard was dedicated to the service of his church and his love and devotion to Jesus Christ was paramount. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time perfecting his garden.  Millard will be remembered for his love for family, his kind and gentle nature, and the fact that he knew no strangers. Millard will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Millard is survived by his loving spouse of 72 years Mary Louise, son, Mark (Kathi) Chester of Charlotte, NC; two granddaughters, Amanda (Olee) Poole, Katelyn Chester; two grandsons, Dylan Peninger, Payton Peninger; three great-granddaughters, Addison Wall, Ella Wall, Aubree Poole; great-grandson, Drew Willis.

He was preceded in death by father, Henry Chester, mother, Ellie Chester, daughter Cynthia Ann Chester, grandson, Andrew Michael Chester.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 11, 2022, 10:00 am - 10:45 am at First Baptist Church in Concord, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church-Concord, with Dr. Jim Collier, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis.
