Charlie Hartsell

Charlie Lance Hartsell, 67 years of age, of Conover, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA.

Mr. Hartsell was born May 31, 1947 in North Carolina to the late Michael Alexander Hartsell and the late Bonnie Chalmer Hartsell. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Boyce Hartsell, Jay Lee Hartsell, and Gary Hartsell.

Lance held several jobs over his career including NCNB Bank in Charlotte, Sales with Nalley Peterbilt, Carolina Kenworth, contractor with Velocity Express and Owner/Operator of J&A Transportation in Hickory. Lance was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover. He followed both UNC and NC State athletics where his sons attended school. Lance was a very caring and gentle man with many friends and extended family members. Once a friend of Lance, you were considered a friend for life.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. A service celebrating Lance's life will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel officiated by Rev Steve Pennington. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Nancy Lowder Hartsell of Conover, NC, sons, Drew (Amy) Hartsell and Josh Hartsell, brothers, Earnie Hartsell and Ken Hartsell, sisters, Juanita Huneycutt, Betty Dennis, Cornelia Alexander, and Coleen McEachern, and twin grandchildren, Luke and Avery Hartsell.
