Charlie Hill

Charlie Odell "C.O." Hill, 101, of Concord, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

C.O. was born November 20, 1915 in Cabarrus County to the late Julius Bennett Hill and the late Esther Lola Dulin Hill. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Lizzie Mae Stirewalt Hill, who passed away in 1981; son, Bobby Hill; daughter, Peggy Almond; five sisters; three brothers; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Roberta Baptist Church, 3301 Roberta Rd., Concord, officiated by Pastor Steve Pennington. He will be put to rest in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home of his daughter, Esther Hartsell.

He is survived by his sons, Charles Hill and wife Raundra, Howard Hill, Sr., both of Concord, Earl Hill and wife Paula of Salisbury, Dwight "Randy" Hill of Concord; daughters, Esther Hartsell and Betty Goforth, both of Concord; half-sister, Velma Biggers of Concord; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 25 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

C.O. was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He loved his family, children, and neighbors. C.O. had an unwavering work ethic, running his dairy farm for 42 years. He loved farming, driving tractors, and milking his cows.
