Cheryl Hartsell

Cheryl Caldwell Hartsell died June 14, 2017.

The only child of Charles William Caldwell and Margaret Hudson Caldwell, she was born October 13, 1949 and grew up in Gaston County, NC.

She graduated Hunter Huss High School in Gastonia, NC, and attended Gaston Community College prior to beginning a career with Southern Bell/BellSouth. She met and married another BellSouth Associate, Terry Edward Hartsell of Kannapolis, NC, and acquired two fine stepsons.

An adventurous free spirit, Cheryl traveled extensively in the Caribbean, Venezuela, and throughout the United States, including Hawaii and three trips to her favorite, Alaska. She made friends in all walks of life wherever she went.

Two of her joys were gospel and bluegrass music, and she helped organize many benefits and fundraisers to give thousands of dollars to elderly musicians and their families in need.

Per Cheryl's instructions, a simple service and prayer of thanks for Cheryl's life will be delivered by Chaplain Tamara Flinchum at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 18, 2017 in the Chapel of Hartsell Funeral Home at 460 Branchview Dr. NE, Concord, NC 28025. Visitation will follow. Committal will be private.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father and a brother-in-law, Bobby R. Hartsell.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Terry E. Hartsell, Richfield, NC; mother, Margaret Caldwell, Gastonia, NC; stepson, Adam Trent Hartsell and wife, Michelle, Cornelius, NC; stepson, Jason Andrew Hartsell, Charlotte, NC; and grandson, Zachary Adam Hartsell. Cheryl is also survived by sister-in-law, Mildred Flinchum, Concord, NC; niece, Chaplain Tamara Flinchum, Piedmont, SC; nephew, Phillip Flinchum and wife, Marsha, High Point, NC; uncle, Don P. Hudson, Sr. and wife, Lucy, Charlotte, NC; aunt, Mildred H. Rhyne and husband, Bill, Dallas, NC; and aunt, Jean Caldwell, Gastonia, NC.

The family wishes to express thanks to The Tucker Hospice House of Cabarrus County for the care given during the last days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Greater Charlotte SPCA, PO Box 77491, Charlotte, NC 28271.
