Chief Mustaine
July 22, 1934 — April 7, 2016
Chief Master Sergeant Bruce Eugene Mustaine, 81 years of age, of Kannapolis, NC formerly of Grand Forks AFB, ND, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
Mr. Mustaine was born July 22, 1934 in Lansing, MI to the late James Edward Mustaine and the late Geraldine B. Mustaine. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James, Phillip and Maurice; sister, Laney; and infant daughter, Elise Ann.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Elsie Tarleton Mustaine; daughters, Linda Magazu (Domenic) of Gibbstown, NJ, Denise Scofield of Kannapolis, NC and Gail Mustaine of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Christina Criscitello (Mike), Anthony Magazu, Domenic Magazu III, USAF (Karlie), Justin Scofield and Sara Scofield; great grandchildren, Roman, Caleb and Alicia Criscitello; Alaina Magazu; as well as Domenic Magazu IV and Anna Magazu.
Bruce proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 31 years, from 1951 to 1982. He received the Meritorious Service Medal in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA) and the Non Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA). Bruce was an avid fisherman and bowler. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and great grandfather, who will be dearly missed. The love we have for him will never fade away. We will think of him often throughout each passing day. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tim Newton. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC with full military honors.
