Christine Clay
August 7, 1923 — October 15, 2015
Mrs. Jewel Christine Clay, 92 years of age, of Concord, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Five Oaks Manor in Concord.
Mrs. Clay was born August 7, 1923 in Union County to the late Dawson Byrom Haywood and the late Bertie Mae Haywood.
She was also preceded in death by husband of 64 years, Harry Junior Clay, three sisters, and one brother.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Monday, October 19, 2015 at Roberta United Methodist Church-Concord. A graveside service will follow in the church cemetery at 3pm and will be officiated by Rev. Jim Church.
Survivors include daughter, Cathy Clay (David) Buck of Concord; granddaughter, Austin (Randy) Determan of Harrisburg; grandson, Matthew Buck of Columbia, SC; great-grandson, Peyton Determan of Harrisburg; two sisters, Shirley Newell of Five Oaks Manor, and Etta Mae Robinson of Indian Trail.
Mrs Clay spent many years working as a seamstress before becoming a full time housewife for 13 years. She then spent over 20 years working part time at the Food Shelf.
