She was a member of the Baptist faith and was employed by Cannon Mills in the training department in the 70âs. She later found her most rewarding work as a manager with Cabarrus County Group Homes providing a nurturing home environment for mentally handicapped adults. Fighting her way through polio as a child, a stroke as an adult, and even breast cancer, she was a true survivor and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a creative and gifted artist, and she loved gardening and helping others. She found joy in lifting the spirits of those who were burdened and knew that laughter was the true secret to life. She was a kind and loving spirit and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to Cabarrus County Senior Center where she found many friends and shared joyous times. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Patty B. Fields and Kay Wingler, and a brother, Tommy Blackwelder. Survivors include her husband, Mike Yow; son Ricky Stegall; daughter Telka Herman and husband, Jerry; stepchildren Angie Clontz and husband, Steve, Nichole Yow and Chad Yow; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
