Christopher Burleson

Christopher Wayne Burleson, 64 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at his home.

Chris was born October 7, 1951 in Stanly County to the late Julius Franklin Burleson, Sr. and the late Frances Elizabeth McDaniel Burleson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Jay Belk. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jo Lowder Burleson of the home; son, Neil (Jennifer) Burleson of Albemarle; daughter, Tessa (Mike Alexander) Burleson of Locust; brother, Julius "Frank" Burleson, Jr. of Charlotte; grandchildren, Alainna Houck, Weston Houck, Lacie Alexander, Colton Alexander, Conner Burleson, and Kaylin Burleson.

Chris loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and his church family. He loved gardening, traveling, and grilling for the family.
He retired after 31 years of service from the NC DOT as a Division Bituminous Asphalt Engineer. He was a member of the Oasis Shriners, Scottish Rites, a charter member of the United Methodist Men. Chris was a faithful member of Pine Grove UMC, where he served on various committees and taught Sunday School.
