Clarence Carpenter

Mr. Clarence Alfred Carpenter, 96, of Dover, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011 at his winter home in Concord. He was a strong Godly leader and passed down a Christian heritage to his family. He was born on April 9, 1914 in Olmsted County, Minnesota to the late Alfred and Rosa Richter Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter is also preceded in death by his wife and sweetheart of 72 years, Maxine Sutherland Carpenter. Clarence was a member of Grace Community Church in Eyota, Minnesota and a retired farmer. He was very active in 4 H, the Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation, and Jolly Sixties. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord from 6:00 until 7:00 PM. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 7:00 PM with Mr. Ed Propst, his Sunday school teacher from Northside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Orion Center Cemetery in Chatfield, Minnesota. He is survived by son, Dennis Carpenter and wife, Janis, of Charlotte; daughters, Jean Norman and husband, Elgin, of Rochester, Minnesota and Sylvia Wright and husband, Gordon, of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. The family requests no flowers.
