Clarence Mabry, Sr

Clarence Haywood Mabry, Sr., 87 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his residence. Clarence was born September 20, 1926 in Stanly County to the late Clarence Lauren Mabry and the late Geneva May Russell Mabry. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Stevens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 18 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Adam Hatley and Chaplain Robert Mabry, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at West Albemarle Baptist Church, 336 Church Street, Albemarle, NC 28001, with a 30 minute state prior to the service. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle, NC. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Harward Mabry of Albemarle; sons, Clarence Mabry, Jr. and wife, Jamie of Aiken, SC, Robert Mabry and wife, Terry of Albemarle, Paul Mabry and wife, Kathy of Seneca, SC and Thomas Mabry of Roanoke, VA; daughter, Deborah Monroe and husband, George of Concord; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Geraldine Lemons. A graduate of NC State University in industrial engineering, he was a veteran of the US Army and served during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.
