Claude Howell

Claude Daniel Howell, age 89 of 28714 Little Bear Rd, Albemarle, NC 28001, passed away on May 15, 2010 at his home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Sunday, May 16 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. At other times the family will be at the home of his daughter, Sylvia Mabry, 28714 Little Bear Road, Albemarle. Funeral service will be at 2 pm on Monday, May 17 at Canton Baptist Church where he was a member, with Rev. Mark Mabry and Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Canton Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. He was a veteran of the US Army, WWII, and worked in bridge maintenance for the NCDOT. Born in Stanly County on November 30, 1920, he is the son of the late Starling H. Howell and the late Dallie Rozanna Smith Howell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Virginia Barbee Howell in 2002, step grandchild, Toni Edwards Coone; brothers, Purdy Howell and Raymond Howell and sister, Ruthie Lea Lambert. He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Howell Mabry and husband David of Albemarle; stepson, Everette E. Edwards, Jr. of New London; grandchildren, Chad Mabry and wife Tracie and Inga Mabry Shaw and husband Cecil; great grandchildren, Whitney Mabry and Cameren Mabry; step grandchildren, Cheri Edwards Hancock and husband Chris and Angie Edwards; step great grandchildren, Dustin Coone, Landon Morris, Alex Hancock and Andi Hancock.
