Claude Safrit
December 21, 1943 — April 26, 2016
Claude Eugene Safrit, 72 years of age, of Concord, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast in Concord.
Claude was born December 21, 1943 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late Ralph O. Safrit and Zelia Josey Safrit. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nora S. Miller and Helen S. Fuson; and brother, John "Bud" Safrit.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, April 29, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 am at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord officiated by Rev. Rodney Boone. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens on Hwy 73, Concord, NC.
Survivors include daughters, Pamela S. Cline and husband Dwayne, and Tori L. Safrit, both of Concord; sons, Scott E. Safrit and wife Candy of Mt. Pleasant, Chad E. Safrit and wife Kimberly and Ronald E. Safrit, both of Concord; sisters, Carolyn S. Fink of Concord and Pauline Calabrese of Rochester, NY; brother, William "Bill" Safrit of Mt. Pleasant; grandsons, Hunter Furr, Heath Furr, and Trey Moore; and granddaughters, Destiny Safrit, and Rachel Safrit.
Claude served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1965 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He began working in 1966 at Bangle Brothers Hosiery Mill, which later became Shogren Hosiery where he remained until 1995. He continued working in textiles at Star America from 1995 until March 2016 when he became ill. He was a well-respected manager by his employees and co-workers during his 50 year career.
He loved all his children and grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and co-workers. His favorite activities were being outdoors and fishing.
The family will be gathering at the home of his son, Chad Safrit, at 5839 Cedar Ridge Lane Concord, NC 28025 throughout the services as well as a celebration of life following the funeral on Saturday for all to join.
