Clay Edward Floyd, 83 years of age, of Norwood, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord.
Mr. Floyd was born March 7, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Claude Alonzo Floyd Sr. and the late Pearl Rogers Floyd.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Patsy Harward Floyd.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, October 16, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 12:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Norwood and will be officiated by Rev. Mark Little and Rev. Lowell Brown. The graveside committal will include military honors by the Stanly County DAV and Masonic rites. Burial will follow at the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery at 32283 Bethlehem Church Road, Norwood.
Survivors include daughter, Robbie (Steve) Cycotte of Mt. Gilead; son, Myrick (Jennifer) Floyd of Norwood; grandchildren, Seth & Aryn Floyd; sister, Carolyn (Robert) Sinclair of Norwood; sister, Frances (James) Clubb of Norwood, brother, Claude A (Janice) Floyd, Jr. of Norwood; sister, Eva Floyd Helms of Oakboro; brother, Dwight (Lori) Floyd of Badin, and many nieces and nephews.
Clay was a Korean War Veteran where he was a 1st sergeant with the 25th Infantry Division 27th Regiment. He was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a 50+ year Mason & Eastern Star member of Pee Dee Lodge #150 in Norwood.
