Cletus Kindley

Cletus Buford (Boots) Kindley, 91 of Harrisburg, went home to heaven for Christmas, Monday December 21, 2020.

Cletus’ greatest joy was spending time with his family.  Sitting on the front porch was a favorite place to pass the time and visit while watching for birds.  He loved old western movies and shows.  With failing eyesight, he listened more than he saw, and recognized many from memory.  His next greatest pleasure came from caring for and helping others.  He had an amazing “green” thumb and could grow anything.  He enjoyed the family garden that was planted for him every year and loved sharing the fresh food with family and friends.  He had a knack for fixing anything and could make a beautiful gunstock from a simple block of wood.

Cletus proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea.

He was a quiet man but his silence could speak volumes.  The warmth of his gaze said, “I love you”.  The strength of his hugs said, “I will keep you safe”.  The gentleness of his hands said, “You are precious to me”.  His nod of approval for a job well done said, “I respect you”.  In the years to come we may not remember many of the words he spoke but the memories of what he conveyed without speaking a word will forever stay in our hearts.

Cletus was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Kindley, and is lovingly remembered by his children, Donna Hajacos, Michael Kindley, Debra Mitchem (Cliff), Joyce Eure (Mike), 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous close family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 10:45 am, Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, officiated by Brad Forrest. Burial will conclude at the Carolina Memorial Park Harrisburg at 12015 University City Blvd., Charlotte.
