Clifford Rowden
February 23, 1932 — May 24, 2016
Clifford E. Rowden, 84, of Concord passed away on May 24, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House. He was born in Norristown, PA on February 23, 1932. Cliff is survived by his wife, Molly, of 57 years; daughters Mimi McDonough (Matt) of Jacksonville, FL; Marcia Rajkovic (Goran) of Harrisburg, NC; and Janet Cooper (Russell) of Bay Village, OH; grandchildren Sarah, Julia & Joshua McDonough; Amanda & Dana Rajkovic; and Andrew, Kelly, Peter and Grant Cooper. He is also survived by sisters Midge Luskin and Norma Jane Ziegenfus.
Upon graduation from Upper Merion High School in Pennsylvania, Cliff enlisted in the US Army and served in Korea. He attended Drexel University in Philadelphia and worked at Alan Wood Steel Company in Conshohocken, PA. In 1960, Cliff graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He also received an Advanced Management degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Cliff was Chief Metallurgist for Republic Steel Corporation and later became the Assistant District Manager. In 1986, he formed his own company, Q/P Management, with which he traveled throughout the US as a consultant focusing on quality and productivity improvement.
Cliff was an avid golfer since his teenage years. Every weekend possible was spent on the golf course. He achieved five hole-in-ones over his lifetime, one per decade. He has always been a faithful member of church and helped to plant Providence Evangelical Church in Avon, OH.
Cliff lived in Bay Village, OH for over 30 years and moved to Matthews, NC in 2007. Taylor Glen Retirement Community has been home for the past three years and he was a member of Grace Church, Harrisburg, NC.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, May 27, at 2:30 pm at Grace Church, 2007 Stallings Road, Harrisburg, NC 28075. The family will be greeting guests following the service in the church fellowship hall.
