Clinton Shuford Polk, 93 years of age, of Midland, departed his worldly home on March 24, 2015 to join his Lord in his heavenly home.
Clint was born June 29, 1921 in Concord, NC to the late John Shuford Polk and the late Bertha Mae Polk. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Griffin and Peggy Lowder.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Louise Polk who loved him dearly; two sons, David Polk and wife, DeeDee, and Stan Polk and wife, Gail; four grandchildren, Chad Polk and wife, Kim, Jeremy Polk, Jesse Polk, and Jada Polk; two step grandchildren, Jeanie Dixon and husband, Rob, and Brandon Simmons and wife, Katherine; three great-grandchildren, Gracyn, McKenna, and Landon Polk; three step great-grandchildren, Sam and Luke Dixon, and Mary Jane Simmons.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm - 3:00pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 in the Family Life Center at Love's Grove United Methodist Church, 4360 Polk Ford Road, Stanfield. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Rev. Jim White. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military rites being conducted by Stanly County DAV.
Clint honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed by Trailways Bus Company for 42 years, starting as a driver, advancing to a transporation supervisor, and then to district manager. He was president of the North Carolina Bus Association.
Clint was an active member of Love's Grove United Methodist Church.
