Clyde Hathcock

Clyde Zane Hathcock Matthews - Mr. Hathcock went to his heavenly home on October 28, 2013. He was born in Locust, NC August 16, 1925 to Ralph and Elsie Hathcock . He was preceded in death by both parents, a son Steve Hathcock, brothers, Harvey, Boyd, Bland, and sister, Helen Eudy. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son David Hathcock, wife Susan of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Sandy Choquette, husband, Richard of Myakka City, FL.; grandson, Todd Couch, wife Anita, of Jamestown, OH; granddaughter, Courtney Couch of Myakka City, Fl. and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by stepdaughter, Lori Gibson, husband Brad of Matthews, NC; grandson, Ryan Gibson; granddaughter, Megan Gibson. Other survivors include brother, Ted Hathcock, wife, Beverly of Matthews, NC and sister, Carolyn Furr, husband, Earl of Knoxville, TN and many nieces and nephews. Clyde was a WWII veteran, surviving multiple injuries and a recipient of a Purple Heart. He retired from the Blythe Co. with 40 years of service in 1990. He was a member of Blair Road United Methodist Church Mint Hill, NC for 40 years. He was a very strong and caring man. He loved his church and was very active before his declining health. The family will receive friends at Blair Road United Methodist Church, Mint Hill, NC 12:30 until 2:00 pm Saturday, November 2, with a funeral service to follow, officiated by Rev. Lynn Upchurch and Rev. Innocent Justice. Interment will be at Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 20063 Meadow Creek Church Rd. Locust, NC 28097 with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Blair Road United Methodist Church, 9135 Blair Road, Charlotte, NC 28227 or Hospice Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204. The family would like to thank Hospice, the staff at The Haven in Highland Creek, and the staff at Carillon in Indian Trail for caring for Clyde the past 17 months. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord NC is serving the Hathcock family.
