Clyde Hatley, Jr

Clyde Dowell Hatley, Jr, 74 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Hatley was born November 9, 1940 in Wadesboro, NC to Clyde "Pete" Hatley, Sr and Margaret Hatley . He was preceded in death by his father.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM , Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle . The funeral service will be on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 5:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Oakboro at 322 N. Main Street officiated by Dr. Terrell Watts and Rev Chip Alsobrooks. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro.

Clyde graduated from Oakboro High School in 1958. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University in 1962. Mr. Hatley loved working 32 years for Duke Energy and its employees. He loved fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include wife of 52 years, Doris Hatley of the home, daughter Lisa Upright and husband Tracy of Albemarle, sons Phillip Hatley and wife Christina of Oakboro, John Hatley and wife Amanda of Huntersville, grandchildren Amber Black, Brandon Concepcion, Parker Hatley, Taylor Upright, Dalton Hatley, Madison Hatley, Kaitlyn Hatley, John Ryan Hatley, great grandchildren Addison Black and Maci Concepcion, sister Kay Gibson and husband Clifford and numerous aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be made to the DaVita Center Copperfield in Concord, Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First St. Albemarle, NC 28001, or First Baptist Church of Oakboro Building Fund, 322 N. Main St. Oakboro, NC 28129.
