Clyde Nicholson

Clyde Alan Nicholson, 67, much loved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on November 26, 2016 in Concord, NC. He was born on August 7, 1949 in Glens Falls, NY to Charles Benjamin Nicholson and Madelyn Coates Nicholson.

Clyde grew up in Hudson Falls, NY, graduating from Hudson Falls Central School in 1967. After 17 years working for Finch, Pruyn, a paper mill in Glens Falls, Clyde returned to school, earning his BS in Computer Scienve from Siena College in 1986. After moving to North Carolina that same year, Clyde worked as a Process Engineer for many years, working for several different companies. His most recent position with Beacon Industrial in Salisbury, NC.

Clyde married Joan Hayner on Valentine's Day in 1976. They were happily married for 40 years.

He was an inventor of Process Control instrumentation, and could find a way to construct, redesign of fix almost anything. He had a quick wit and dry sense of humor. He had a ready smile and would do anything he could to help someone in any way he could.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Joan, of Concord, NC; his sons, Scott Nicholson and his wife, Christal, of Archdale, NC and Timothy Nicholson and his wife, Deb, of Mount Olive, NC; his mother, Madelyn Nicholson of Hudson Falls, NY; his sisters, Diane Purner and her husband, Paul, of Hudson Falls, NY and Linda Hassley and her husband, Bill, of Hudson Falls, NY. Clyde was the proud grandfather of 6 children and one great-grandson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and his sister-in-law, Joyce Hayner Mintz. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Nicholson and his sister, Gail Nicholson.

Clyde was a dog lover, and was especially proud of his two black German Shepherds, Black Jack and Beauregard.

A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Drive in Concord, Tuesday, November 29, at 1:00 pm with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 pm. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at home after the service.
