Clyde Smith

Clyde Timothy Smith, 87 years of age, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at his home, in Locust. Mr. Smith was born in Stanly County, NC, January 9, 1926 to the late Fletcher Smith and the late Lillie Ann Burris Smith. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. with a 30 minute state, Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Herrins Grove Primitive Baptist Church, officiated by Elder Charles A. Broadway and Mitchell Broadway. Burial will follow at Herrins Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 29482 Herrins Grove Church Road, Mount Pleasant, NC 28124; www.herrinsgrove.org. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his loving wife, Minnie Jane Williams Smith, of the home; his three daughters, Louviene “Dean” Stegall of Stanfield, NC, Marie Kennedy and husband Paul of Concord, NC, Dianne Wind and husband James of Carolina Beach, NC and seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was a former member of the Locust Lion’s Club, the West Stanly Saddle Club, a founding member of the West Stanly Rescue Squad, and he served on the Locust City Planning and Zoning Board for many years.
