Connie Gilbert

Connie Williams Gilbert, 93 years of age, of New London, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.

Mrs. Gilbert was born February 27, 1925 in Union County to the late Robert "Hugh" F. Williams and the late Carrie Jane Williams. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Morton ,Sr, who was killed during WWII; her second husband, George Ray Gilbert; and a son Fred Lee Morton, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM - 2:45 PM , Friday, March 23, 2018, at Kendalls Baptist Church, 32157 Kendalls Baptist Church Road in New London. The funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 3:00 PM officiated by Pastor Christian Herring. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include sons, Olin Gilbert (Linda) of New London and Donald Gilbert of Vancouver, Canada; daughter-in-law, Sarah Morton of Richfield; grandchildren, Jeffery Gilbert (Christy), Jennifer Burleson (Neil), Carrie Kelly (Daniel), and David Gilbert (Eileen); nine great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Williams; sisters, Mable Lowder, Gwen Williams, Shirley Williams, Marie Boger, Wanda Hathcock (Mike) and Linda Spears (Sam); and many nieces and nephews.
