Cora Eudy

Cora Belle Huneycutt Eudy, 97, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Forrest Oaks Healthcare Center in Albemarle.

Cora was born November 29, 1923 in North Carolina to the late David Aurey Huneycutt and the late Roxie Burgess Huneycutt of Stanly County.

Cora married Craig Harding Eudy on March 26, 1943. Harding preceded her in death on January 1, 2015. They were married for 71 years and had two sons; Jerry Craig Eudy (Doris) and Dwight S. Eudy (Zelma). They had four grandchildren; Cynthia Hoffner (Todd), Craig Eudy (Michelle), Steven D. Eudy (Misti), and Ria Eudy (Josh Bartlett), and nine great-grandchildren; Owen and Amelia Eudy, Leanna and Macon Eudy, Joannah and Hayden Gariety, Kimimela Calkins, and William and Emily Bartlett.

Cora was the oldest member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Oakboro with 74 years of membership. She was a faithful member; serving as a nursery worker for decades and a member of women's missionary groups. She retired from Wiscassett Mills of Albemarle. After retiring at age 70, she attended child care classes and began working at a local day care. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her flowers and plants. She was also well known for her cooking skills.

Cora was one of sixteen children born to David and Roxie. She is survived by one sister, Mary Virginia Hartsell. Siblings that preceded her in death include; Jonah Huneycutt, Sarah Swaringen, Ray Lee Huneycutt, Flossie Marie Huneycutt, Henry Huneycutt, Dora Smith, Myrtle Hartsell, Roy Huneycutt, Claude Huneycutt, Nathan Huneycutt, and Hattie Burnette.

Cora was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a thoughtful neighbor. She will be remembered for her faith in God, love for her family, and her caring spirit.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow Thursday at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Oakboro officiated by Rev. Dr. Shad Hicks. Burial will immediately follow at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro.

The family of Cora Eudy wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Forrest Oaks for the sincere and continued care given to Cora during her time at the facility.
