Coy Almond

Coy Lee Almond, age 83 of 24359 Ridgecrest Road, Locust, NC 28097, passed away on August 15, 2010 at Stanly Manor. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Tuesday, from 6-8. Funeral service will be at Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 2 PM. Rev. Ervin Houser will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. Born September 5, 1926 in Stanly County, NC he was a son of the late John Almond and the late Alice Lambert Almond. He is survived by his wife, Margie Gazelle Harwood Almond of the home, sons Tony Almond and wife Kelly and Randy Almond and wife Lisa, both of Mt. Pleasant, NC, daughter, Vickie Furr and husband Boyd of the Millingport Community; brother, Wilbert Almond of Locust, sisters, Pauline Tucker of the Ridgecrest Community and Emily Furr of Oakboro, five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Connie Lambert and Nettie Almond and 2 brothers, Clinton Almond and “Boots” Almond. He served in the US Army during WW II. He was a driver for Alcart in Albemarle and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N.
