Coy Hatley

Coy Sylvester Hatley, 90 years of age, of Locust, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at his residence.

Coy was born May 2, 1927 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late Channie Greene Hatley and Lillie Almond Hatley. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chase Hatley; and ten brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Friday, November 10, at 1:00 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Midland. Burial with military honors accorded by the United States Naval Honors Team will follow at the Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 24671 Millingport Road, Locust.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Laura F. Hatley; sons, Channie David Hatley and wife. Barbara of Oakboro, and Allen Dale Hatley and wife. Sherry of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Saundra Whitley and companion. Aubrey Mullis of Locust; five grandchildren, Erin Hatley, Sarah Hatley, Jamie Hatley, Tyler Furr and Olivia Furr; step-grandson Justin Faile; five great grandchildren, Koltyn Hatley, Korbin Hatley, Kabe Hatley, Penelope Miller and Matthew Miller.

Coy was a retired truck driver, member of the Stanly County Genealogical Society, played and enjoyed bluegrass music, honorary member of Ridgecrest Volunteer Fire Department and served in the United States Navy.
