Coy Whitley

Coy Nathaniel Whitley, 87 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.

Mr. Whitley was born April 4, 1930 in Stanly County to the late James Claude Whitley and the late Beulah Little Whitley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Blanche Whitley and a daughter, Linda Kay Vanhoy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM , Monday, April 10, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle . The funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at South Albemarle Baptist Church, 1005 South Second Street in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Danny Laws. Burial will follow at the Red Cross Baptist Church Cemetery at 112 W. Red Cross Rd., Oakboro. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Jo Ann Simpson.

Survivors include daughters, Jo Ann Simpson and husband Charles Ray Simpson and Wanda Whitley (Robert Vick); son, Coy Wayne Hathcock and wife Odessa Hathcock; and his special friend, Eloise Furr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle c/o Coy Nathaniel Whitley.
