Craig Lee Jenkins, 62 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
Mr. Jenkins was born July 31, 1954 to the late William Henry and Margaret Ellis Jenkins.
Craig was born and raised in Shelby, NC and was a graduate of Crest High School. He went on to graduate from NC State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, UNC Greensboro with a Masters in Library Science, and Stanly Community College with a Biomedical Equipment Technology Degree. He dedicated his life to education, teaching at Burns High School, Rockingham County High School, Trinity High School, Western Alamance High School, and Stanly Community College. He was a lover of books, electronics, baking, and woodworking. Most importantly, he was a dedicated husband, a loving father, and a faithful friend.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Oakboro Fellowship Hall. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the fellowship hall officiated by Rev. Dr. Terrell Watts.
Family includes his wife of 29 years, Dana Bucher Jenkins; daughter, Jessica Jenkins; son, Daniel Jenkins; father-in-law, Rev. Dennis P. Bucher; sister-in-law, Donna and husband Neal Stallings; aunt, Sherrill and deceased husband Jimmy Jenkins; uncle, Joe and wife Margaret Ellis; first cousins, David Jenkins, Kemp and Pam Huss, Linda and Don Aschbrenner, Kim and John Mark Weir, Wendy and Mark Ferlisi, Marty and Tony Sprouse; as well as many second cousins.
